The Heritage Cluster project
The Heritage Cluster is a feasibility project that explores buildings within Leicester's Cultural Quarter that are both a historic and contemporary asset to the area. The buildings historic values originate from being built and used in Leicester's manufacturing industries from the 1850's to the 1980's and are now contemporary assets as commercial buildings for private landowners and Leicester City Council.
The project is to attract and inspire people who wouldn’t normally engage with historical archive information about Leicester’s industrial heritage in creative, innovative and engaging ways that would compliment the buildings new use.
To develop these reinterpretations the secondary focus was to engage the new creative industries, based in the Cultural Quarter, with the areas illustrious past. Inviting them to use their own creativity to enhance old archives for new audiences, that will be presented at a demonstration event in November 2013.
